A deaf boy who had his hearing aids ripped out by bullies was moved to tears after a Crowdfunding appeal topped £5,700.

The ten-year-old was shoved to the ground before being kicked and stamped on in Lister Road, Beechdale, Walsall.

A group of six older boys repeatedly kicked him before ripping out his hearing aids and stamping on them.

Michele Mansell had set up the JustGiving page with a target of handing over £2,500 to the boy and his family.

But as of Tuesday kindhearted donors had raised £5,700.

She passed on a message from the boy's family thanking everyone for their support.

The family member wrote: “I found him crying in his room last nite. I signed ‘whats the matter’ and his reply was 'why are all the people being nice to me?'

"I tried to explain but, being deaf, he does not always understand.

“Its been such an emotional time for us all... we are just so grateful to you. x"

Ms Mansell posted earlier: “A message to the young boy and his family... Look how many people are behind you and against these bullies!

"We’ve got your backs and we ALL support you! Good far outweighs evil EVERY TIME and with the power of social media, we, as strangers, all come together.

“I know you’re so overwhelmed with everyone’s support at this time and I hope that we can make you see the light through the darkness xx

The vicious attack happened on Friday, September 28 between 6.15pm and 7pm.

Sergeant Adam Hicklin, of force CID, said: “We are appealing for help with identifying this group of bullies who launched an unprovoked and hateful attack on a defenceless young boy.

“In addition to physical injuries, the boy is very frightened and shaken and has suffered damage to his hearing aids that will cost several thousand pounds to replace."

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
