FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Two local foundations gave a significant boost to Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana’s big capital campaign.

The English Bonter Mitchell Foundation has donated $1-million, and the Edward M. and Mary McCrea Wilson Foundation adding $250,000, toward consolidating the JA’s local offices and programs into a proposed new headquarters at Coldwater and Wallen Roads.

The group, which tries to encourage kids and teens to learn more about business and the economy, is trying to raise $12-million for the new building, which would include space for their “BizTown” and “Finance Park” programs as well as a new “Entrepreneurship Center,” according to a JA press release.

“This is a transformative time for JA, which is why the transformative support of organizations like English Bonter Mitchell Foundation and the Wilson Foundation are so important,” said Jim Johnston, Board Chair of the JA Foundation. “Not only do they support our vision, they share a passion for entrepreneurship and shaping the leaders of tomorrow. Our organization is positioned for an even greater impact on youth as we take programming to a new level made possible by these new and expanded facilities.”
