Severe Day: What to expect in Arkansas

All right folks, we have *** severe day that has been declared. Let's get into what we're looking at today. Level 1 out of 5 for parts of Northwest Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma, but most of our area under that level 2 out of 5 risk. But the farther east you go, the better chances you have to see the higher risk. Now, well, that does mean that we could see some very strong winds today, gusts over 60 MPH possible, especially in this yellow and red zone. But if you go out. To that pink zone just out to the east, if you are traveling today, maybe near Little Rock, going to be very strong winds there today. Hail threat looks to be there as well. We could see over golf ball sized hail, and any storm that does form at least quarter size is what we're seeing with any storm that does form. Stronger storms could have some bigger size hail, but *** minimal tornado threat, but non-zero. We're looking at 2% chance for most of our viewing area, but off to the east, that 5% and even. Farther out to the east, we're seeing *** 10%. So *** strong tornado day maybe *** little bit farther east, but you can't rule out one or two in our area. That's what we've been looking at. All right, let's look hour by hour and get you *** look at when those storms could form. We had *** little bit of storms this morning, severe thunderstorm warnings in Northwest Arkansas. So, what does that mean? Well, that could reduce some action in parts of Northwest Arkansas, but the river valley, even though there were *** few strong storms, no severe weather. And they're gonna warm up into the 80s where that cold front might get here before the storms do form. So that means the river valley in any area in front of that cold front could see severe storms initiate. We're looking at that right along this boundary here, and that's gonna continue to move east throughout the day. And that's where we're gonna see those storms form and fire off. That's where we could see some of those strong hails, some strong winds, maybe even *** minimal tornado threat there. And you see, these are some storms. That are packing *** punch, you see those pinks, those reds. That's what we're keeping our eye on over the next little bit. That moves out and then we're in the clear by the rest of your Sunday, but it's not the only severe threats that we do have coming up with the forecast. So make sure over the next week to stay tuned to the 4029 weather team. We'll have all the latest details for you on this threat and future threats, as well as download the 4029 news app and watch the latest on 4029T.com. Thanks for stopping by.
