There are less than 100 days to go until the Summer Olympics officially begin in Paris, and from wrestling to soccer and volleyball, athletes are getting ready for the competition — including one notable athlete from our region.Ilona Maher, from Burlington, is a rugby player who will get a chance to represent Team USA again in this year's Olympics.After competing in Tokyo for the 2020 Games, Maher said she is looking forward to being in Paris this summer."I'm really excited for there to be fans and know my family can go and other people because I think that just I play for them," Maher said. "To get that energy from them and the crowd will be awesome."The United States has qualified men's and women's rugby teams for the Paris Olympics, but the rosters haven't been released yet.The Summer Olympics will begin with the opening ceremonies on July 26.For more Olympics coverage, check out our special 2024 Olympics section.
