SPANGLE – After holding off the rival Reardan Indians in the NE2B district quarterfinals last Tuesday, the Lady Gorillas saw their season come to an end with a blowout loss to the Liberty Lancers in an NE2B semifinal matchup 54-35 Thursday, June 17.

Teagen Colvin scored 31 points for Liberty to carry the Lancers into the district title game, which the Lancers won in a 77-46 demolition over top-seed Lind-Ritzville/Sprague two days after beating Davenport.

Senior Darby Soliday scored 15 points for the Lady Gorillas, while Ellie Telford scored 12 points. The rest of Davenport’s team managed just eight points combined as Liberty controlled the game and didn’t allow Davenport to score in double figures in any quarter.

The loss was the final game for Davenport’s four seniors, Soliday, Telford, Milei Floyd and Haley Greenwood, all of whom started and played major minutes this year. The Lady Gorillas will look to re-tool for next year behind Kylee Buchanan, Lena Waters and Jensyn Jacobsen, who were non-seniors that saw meaningful playing time this season.
