UK Chocolate Brand Raw Halo Launches Second Equity Crowdfunding Campaign on Crowdcube & Quickly Overfunds

Raw Halo, a UK-based cocoa and chocolate confectionery brand, has returned to equity crowdfunding platform Crowdcube to raise £110,000. Within the first week of its debut, the initiative raised its funding target from close to 175 investors. This campaign launch comes less than a year after the company secured nearly £150,000 through its first round on the funding portal.

Founded in 2014 by Meg Haggar, Raw Halo describes itself as an award-winning raw chocolate brand that produces healthier chocolate made with raw cacao. Each piece of chocolate is free of refined sugar, gluten, and dairy. The company stated:

For most people, a chocolate bar is an indulgent treat, which doesn’t often compliment a healthy lifestyle. When Meg decided to cut refined sugar from her own diet, she set about searching for a healthier chocolate that still tasted delicious – but she was soon disappointed with those that she found.

This proved to be her inspiration to dream up a healthier treat which utilised the finest organic ingredients and only a little natural sweetener. Driven by her passion for eating well, Raw Halo was born, where organic raw Peruvian cacao meets organic coconut sugar and other natural, plant-based ingredients.

Besides its previous crowdfunding success, Raw Halo has achieved the following:

  • Sold in over 400 stockists (up from 150 in 2016)
  • Over 220,000 bars sold to date (up from 85,000 in 2016)
  • Outsourced production and warehousing in 2017, in preparation for listings with a major retailer.

Funds from the second Crowdcube campaign will be used to drive launch into national supermarkets, continued marketing investment, and new product development. The funding round is currently set to close mid-December.
