I'm proud of a real leader: Wisconsin native J.J. Watt.
The Houston Texans' star defensive end jump started a crowd funding campaign with $100,000 of his own money and so far has leveraged his fame and media megaphone into more than $6 million to aid the victims of Hurricane Harvey and the resulting devastation.
Meanwhile, our fearful leader, Donald Trump, holds a press conference marveling at the size of the turnout and barely mentions the victims. Could he be any weaker or more pathetic? Maybe he was inspired by the mean-spirited selfishness of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who voted against funding for Hurricane Sandy.
I'm very thankful for real leaders, such as Watt, who inspire action and respect. I'm so proud he is using his well-deserved fame as a truly compassionate and moral leader. I hope that soon his fundraising total will exceed $25 million.
