HILO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - Authorities have arrested a woman on the Big Island for allegedly stealing more than $1 million from a magazine she used to work for in Nevada.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal says Shelby McCann is charged with two dozen felony counts tied to her five-year employment at Card Player magazine.

The district attorney says McCann increased her salary, wrote checks to herself, and paid off credit cards with corporate money.

According to the paper, a crowdfunding site for her defense calls the charges over the top and absurd.
